Even with the recent enhancements to the rooms and public areas, the hotel's decor remains unpretentious. Atlantis is an old fashioned hotel - the rooms are deliberately without radio, television or telephone, making it the perfect escape from the hubbub of urban living.

While the simplicity of the hotel is reflected in its reasonable prices & the view from the rooms is priceless!

There are only ten rooms available for letting - the others are occupied year round by the hotel's resident guests, among whom is renowned Barbadian author, George Lamming.

Fisherman The hotel is much favoured by artists, academics, parents of surfers and yes, we must admit, the odd surfer taking advantage of the hotel's proximity to the Bathsheba Soup Bowl - the surfing Mecca of Barbados. Generally the clientele is quite eclectic.

But its very location on the rugged east coast of the island makes the hotel attractive to nature lovers. Atlantis is located on the wild side of Barbados in a zone of unspoilt natural beauty, wonderful for walking and hiking and sketching. It is within easy reach of many of the island's natural and nature enhanced attractions: the Andromeda Gardens is within walking distance, while Orchid World, the Flower Forest, Welchman Hall Gully, Harrison’s Cave, Gun Hill Signal Station, Hackleton’s Cliff, Farley Hill National Park, http://barbados.org/fhill.htm Morgan Lewis Mill, Cherry Tree Hill and Turner's Hall Woods (the island’s last remaining bit of tropical rain forest) are all within 20 minutes driving range.

“The hotel is much favoured by artists…. the clientele is quite eclectic”

The recently renovated public areas have come in for high praise from patrons who have expressed both admiration and appreciation of the work done.

Augmenting the beauty of the public areas is the striking local paintings gracing the walls. The Atlantis presents itself as a museum of Barbadian art, with regular exhibitions featuring important local artists.
